I think it is the only program that is of of its design in Colorado for our region here. Um is designed to help students transition into an academic program um for stem fields for both university as and careers. It builds up leadership, academic confidence self-efficacy, and we have many support services wrap around them. Uh free, free, everything and all we require a student of students are three things that they be dedicated full-time status for classes part of with us at any campus in PCC they plan to, and we help you to build that schedule that you take seven, seven, I can't emphasize it seven is a good number but only need nine credits per semester of science, math, computer science technology, and, the most important is that you need to be a resident with an US, citizen permanent residence and most of our students come. We have some that we found out don't have that residency. We do have some program from funds that the department can tap into for students who do not qualify through our grant funds, for we've supported quite a bit of non-resident non-documented students directly as well from this program that way we want to turn nobody away we want to encourage everybody, so with that being said, we are located on the second floor of life sciences 235 on the pueblo, campus um, we're building some things there, but right, now, please get a hold of us via via our of our website on our on PCC, and I also sent it to Carol, so hopefully it'll be part of the links provided to you later on today. Yes and we actually are right around the corner from, HOSA as well. Perfect. So thank you so much and we enjoy having STEM here and we welcome all high schoolers, high, school seniors who are taking, up to come to PCC up in that degree of STEM, thank you for your time guys. Excellent. Thank you very much, David next up we have, up, next, next. Up next, we have Colorado State University, Pueblo, and Ms. Jeanette. Hello everyone, good evening. Hopefully you can hear and see me. My name is Jeanette. I'm one of our admissions counselors here at CSU, Pueblo. Can you guys, see me, see my presentation? Yes we can, take it away. Awesome, so we are CSU, Pueblo down in Southern Colorado we're located in Pueblo. We are regional comprehensive university. That means we have about 4,000 students on our campus. We are extremely diverse. Highly diverse population 50, of our student body are first generation students. They are the first in their family to attend college, and we have 47, of our population that are minoritized student populations as well. Because of our smaller class size, our average classroom is going to be 15 students to one. So you definitely have that closer connection with professors as well. We on campus we have 420, acres. We do have about 1000 of our. Students living in residents' halls, so you don't feel like we're just a commuter school. We're very, active campus as well, so there is plenty to do. We've got about five minutes left. If anyone has any questions, you can drop them in the Q&A box, and we'll answer them. In the meantime, I'd like to ask our panelists a question, so if everybody could turn their videos back on, we will go in the order of speakers. My question to all of you is, what is the best piece of advice you can give to a high schooler going through the college search process? Let's start with Dr. Garcia from COSI. Great. So my biggest suggestion is: do not do it alone. Reach out for support. Many times people feel overwhelmed with the process of FAFSA or doing admissions applications. Come visit us. We has offices, either on-site or online. We can support you. Please reach out to your counselors, high school counselors, or colleges' admissions staff, as well as community partners like us, to support you along the process so you don't feel alone or overwhelmed. Thank you. Thank you. And Jan from Pueblo Community College. Yes, I would second that, and also, we highly recommend, before you sign on the dotted line, to go physically and visit the campus. Because once you step foot on that campus, whether you are coming to Pueblo Community College, or you're visiting CSU Pueblo, or you're going up the highway to UCCS, you will get a feel for that campus community, and whether you feel comfortable, or if you can visualize yourself being there. So please go do the physical tours. Perfect, thank you. David from Pueblo Community College and HOSA. Hi. First, I would just like to back up what everybody's been saying about visiting colleges and doing it with help, but my advice is actually aimed towards parents of students who are entering college: support them, guide them, but do not push. They have to find their own destiny and choose which college makes sense to them financially, academically, or just from the gut. But the ultimate decision is up to them because they're the ones who will attend classes. I think my parents did that, and it's some of the best advice I've received. Excellent. Jeanette, from CSU Pueblo. Well, I agree with everything. My piece of advice would be: apply. No matter how hard or out of reach you think a university is, just apply. You never know if you can get in, and you never know what kind of financial aid or scholarships the school can award you. So apply, give it a shot, and see what happens. Great, thank you. Elena, from MSU. My biggest piece of advice is to be open-minded. You can start off at a community college, and if you realize that that's a good path for you, you can always transfer. Or, if you want to change your major, there are plenty of options out there. Just keep your options open. Thank you, Elena. Courtney, from UCCS. My piece of advice is to get organized. Making some sort of checklist of the universities you are applying to, write down any application fees, deadlines, scholarship applications, and important dates. It will help make this very busy process a little bit smoother for you, and a little bit easier. Excellent, thank you. Claire, from CSU Fort Collins. I totally agree with the, organization aspect. Also, don't be afraid to put yourself out there. Connect with us. It is literally our jobs to answer your questions and help you through this process. We love talking to you guys. No question is dumb. Please email, call, zoom, whatever works best for you. Ask us your questions. We are here to support you in any way. Excellent. Liz, from Regis. I would say: look at the return on investment. Make sure you're asking questions about career services, internship opportunities, research opportunities, hands-on experience, and what's available to support you, to make sure you get jobs or apply to grad school successfully. Awesome, thank you so much. And last but not least, Marcus, from Western. Yeah, I would say, like they mentioned, go of and visit, but when you visit, try to talk to the current students, see how their experiences are, what they like, what they don't like. That will really help you. Fantastic advice, everybody. Thank you. Thank you for making time to present to us this evening, and thank you, attendees, for joining. We hope you got some great information. A quick four-question survey will appear on your screen once the session is closed, and we would appreciate your feedback. In about a week, you'll be able to find the recording of this session, as well as all our other sessions, on our website at coloradoparent.com/parenting-webinars/. Have a good night, everyone. Bye. Thank you. Bye. Thank you. Done and done. All right, thank you all. Turn off recordings. Perfect. Bye guys. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Have a great night. You too. Bye bye. Bye. Bye.
